Exotherme™ is a vascular laser which uses intense light to destroy the blood vessels of areas affected by conditions such as roseacia, spider veins and leg/facial telangiectasias while leaving other surrounding tissues intact.
The Exotherme™ offers the advantage of an auto-regulated cooling allowing you to protect the epidermis while offering the patient a painless treatment. The built-in camera allows for on screen visualization and assists you in precisely targeting the affected area. Even allows for patients to watch the procedure and see the effects of the laser immediately. The multi-pulse mode allows for reduction of the energy of the laser by a factor of 3 or 4 which increases safety for the surrounding tissues. The principle of the Exotherme™ laser is based on the thermal action of the laser. The transcutaneous irradiation (with a penetration of 1 to 2 mm in the tissue) causes tissue selective absorption by hemeglobin (hemoglobin is the main target of the laser).
Advantages
The Auto-Regulated Cooling System allows to:
- protect the epidermis
- make the treatment painless
- use higher fluencies
- make the treatment reproducible without discomfort for the patient
- cause no inflammatory reaction
The Built-in Camera allows:
- on screen visualization
- to target more precisely
- to control the dosimetry (spasm of the vein)
- the patients to watch their treatments in real time
- to give value to the act because the patient see the immediate effects of the laser.
The Multipulse Mode:
- More efficiency of the laser
- Reduction of the energy of the laser by a factory of 3 to 4
- Increased safety for surrounding tissue.
You may experience redness or sometimes swelling following treatment. Blood in some larger capillaries may appear brown and dark for a few days before being reabsorbed by the body. For the first 48 hours after treatment, you should avoid any strenuous activity, keep the treatment area moist with a soothing gels available. Avoid any anti-inflammatory or aspirin related medications for a few days prior to the treatment and a few days after it. Exposure to the sun must be avoided 4-6 weeks before and 4-6 weeks after the treatment. SPF 30+ sunscreen is a must daily.
